Guest Room Makeover

Now that our guest room turned home office is finally a guest room again, I’ve started gathering ideas on how I want to makeover the room. While blue and white is a forever favorite color combination, I have something else in mind for our guest room. To create a warm and inviting space, I plan on using soft greens, whites, and creams for the fabric, accessories, and bedding. Sister Parish’s Dolly, and Colefax and Fowler’s Bowood and Summerby fabrics immediately come to mind as I try to create my guest room vision in my head.

Although I would absolutely love to wallpaper the entire room in one of these beautiful prints, the walls in our home are textured (I had no idea this was a thing until moving to Texas, and it’s just tragic). Since we only plan to be in this house a few more years, smoothing our walls and then wallpapering just doesn’t seem worth it. Instead, I plan to incorporate these pretty prints in upholstery and pillows – things we can move with us to our next house!

Below I’m sharing a mood board for our guest room along with some of my favorite finds I hope to use in the room.

Accent Pillows. Etsy is such a great place to find designer pillows at a reasonable price. All of these options look so well made (I actually own the Bowood pillow linked here and the quality and piped detailing is just beautiful)!

Furniture. Although I hope to find an antique dresser for the room, I’m loving these vintage inspired pieces as alternatives. These all have the character and charm I’m looking for in order to create a cozy and inviting space.

Bedding. I just adore white/cream bedding with sweet scalloped detailing. These are all such pretty options that would be perfect in any bedroom.

Lamps. I love the idea of adding a patterned pleated lampshade to a simple lamp to make it your own. I found great affordable options and included my favorite splurge-worthy lamp.

Area Rugs. Classic natural fiber rugs are always my go-to. They add texture and warmth to any room.

Seating. I definitely plan to add an end of bed bench and accent chair (if space allows). I love these classic options to either reupholster or leave as is.

Wall art. These pretty green botanical prints come as a set of twelve. I also included other great botanical sets that I’ve been eying for a while.
